General information

Proper peach planting in spring as the basis for quick and generous harvests.

Planting, growing and transplanting in areas of high-risk agriculture of such a capricious southern crop as a peach is a difficult and nontrivial task.

Many gardeners, after the first unsuccessful experience, refuse further attempts. And in vain. Most of the misunderstandings can be avoided with proper approach to the laying of the peach orchard, already at the stage of planting seedlings.

When is it best to plant a peach in autumn or spring?

This is a problem around which many copies are broken. There are two options - spring and autumn, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

· A fragile seedling is susceptible to pest attacks.

· When purchasing a sapling in spring, it is more difficult to assess its condition.

· The sapling is not dried up by the sun.

· Sleeping shoots do not detract from the developing roots.

· In the autumn to buy seedlings cheaper in price.

· When choosing a seedling, it is possible to assess its condition by vegetative shoots.

Such a brief analysis shows that autumn planting has more advantages. However, the main factor determining the optimal time is the climate zone.

If autumn is warm, you can plant a peach in September. 6-10 weeks before the frost he will have time to start and prepare for winter. If early frosts and cold are predicted, the purchased sapling is best preserved until spring in the prix and planted in March, when the temperature of the topsoil will be +12? С.

In the southern latitudes (North Caucasus, Nizhnevolzhsky and Central Chernozem regions), a peach is planted, of course, in the fall, until mid-October. In areas with a difficult climate (the Northern region, the Urals, Siberia, the Far East), the landing should be only spring.

Variety selection

Everyone knows that varieties must be zoned for a specific cultivation region. The problem is that of the 57 peach varieties registered in Rosreestre, all 57 are recommended for cultivation only in southern Russia. For the Central or, for example, the Far Eastern regions there is no suitable peach. Therefore, to choose a grade for this landmark will not work. What to do?

In addition to zoning, there is also the concept of acclimatization. It lies in the fact that the variety transferred from another climatic zone, with the help of special agrotechnical techniques, takes root in the new conditions. In other words, the tree must be born where it grows. Find acclimatized peaches only in closely located nurseries. Writing seedlings on the Internet and carry them for thousands of kilometers does not make sense.

Choice of stock

Stock predetermines much: the viability of the plant, and its yield, and resistance to disease, and durability, and even future sizes.

Stocks can be vegetative and generative. Vegetative obtained from cuttings of plants with the desired properties. Generative - seedlings grown from seeds. Vegetative rootstock is always safer, generative less predictable.

The main criteria for stock are as follows:

  • winter hardiness
  • excellent compatibility with grafts,
  • ability to adapt to different soils.

As a peach stock, several plant species can be used:

    • apricot,
    • bitter almonds,
    • plum,
    • Manchurian peach.

For growing in areas of risk farming, it is best to take a seedling grafted on a Manchurian peach. It is this stock that is well rooted in any kind of soil, has increased winter hardiness and drought resistance, makes the future tree compact and resistant to bacterial cancer. In addition, peach fruits on such a stock do not tend to shredding.

    Seedling condition

Biennial seedlings are most successful. When buying, you should inspect the plant according to this scheme:

    1. Inspection of the root system. It should be fibrous, strongly branched, not overdried. The more powerful the root system, the better the plant will be applied.
    2. Inspection of the trunk and branches. Normal growth "dvuhletki" - from 1.2 to 1.5 meters. The thickness of the trunk is about 2 cm. The distance from the root collar to the vaccination site is 6-8 cm. Well-developed lateral branches - at least 3.
    3. Inspection of the cortex. It should be smooth, glossy, without cracks and peeling. In no case should there be traces of gum.

    Ingrained young peach trees

If the seedling is purchased in the fall, there may be leaves on it. On them it is also possible to judge a condition of a sapling. Twisted leaf plates, dried, affected by congestion and other fungi - a reason to guard.

    Seat preparation

Peach is an extremely thermophilic and light-demanding plant. When choosing a site for planting, it is necessary to immediately cut off all lowlands, windy, flooded and boggy places, areas with high standing of subterranean waters, places obscured by tall buildings or mature trees.

The best options are any well-lit places covered from the north: the southern wall of the house or the slope of a gentle hill.

If a seedling is planted on a plot where garden plants were previously cultivated, it must be kept in mind that peach plants are not suitable as precursors for any family of solanaceous trees, melons, and also strawberries and sunflowers.

The general scheme of preparation of the landing pit is as follows:

    1. The minimum dimensions are 0.5 * 0.5 * 0.5 meters. If the root system has powerful dimensions, the size can be more - 1 * 1 * 0.8 meters. On wet soils, the depth increases by 20 cm. Additional space is filled with expanded clay.
    2. The earth, taken out of the pit, is separately mixed with two buckets of good humus and a liter jar of wood ash.
    3. In the bottom of the pit close to the center, you can hammer support.

The peach tree makes a lot of nutrients out of the soil, and filling the planting pit with fertilizers is a must. In addition to pure organics, you can add mineral complexes. For example, "Kemira Lux" or "Nitroammofosk." At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the root system does not receive a chemical burn and sprinkle the mineral fertilizers with a layer of soil before planting the seedling.

    Two ways of planting peach

In recent years, there have been many discussions between gardeners on the issue of deepening the root collar of peach seedlings. It is believed that the recessed landing increases the frost resistance of the tree. Some peach drivers go further and advise not only to deepen the neck, but also the place of vaccination.

However, in this case there is a risk that the graft will go to its own roots, and all the positive qualities of the stock will be lost. Therefore, the expediency of dropping vaccinations is questionable.

There are two standard landing technologies: “cone” and “slush”.

    Peach Tree Planting Pattern

    Put on a cone

Putting "on a cone" is not difficult. This is the most common method. The procedure for landing is as follows:

  • 2 buckets of water are poured into the landing pit.
  • After being absorbed into the bottom of the pit by a mound, the soil prepared in advance according to the above scheme is poured.
  • The seedling is installed on the top of the hill ("cone"). The roots are laid out on the slopes so that their location is at an angle of 45 ?.
  • Constantly monitoring the position of the root collar, the pit is filled with fertile soil, slightly tamping, so that there are no air cavities around the roots.
  • Pistol circle is watered with 1 bucket of water. When absorbed, the entire area of the circle is mulched with humus, peat, crushed bark.

After planting, the seedling is fixed to the support, so that it does not tilt when the ground settles in the pit and does not break under strong wind.

    Landing "in liquid"

This method is good for allowing you to land alone. The algorithm of action for planting a peach "slush" is as follows:

  • At the bottom of the landing pit 2 buckets of humus pour out and filled with a bucket of water.
  • When the water is half soaked, the bucket of fertile soil is filled up.
  • The root system of the sapling is immersed in the resulting slush. Viscous mass holds it well in an upright position.
  • The pit is gradually filled with soil. As it is filled, the sapling behind the stem pulls up higher. The roots themselves are located at the right angle.
  • When the pit is filled, the position of the root collar is checked and another watering is performed.

Pristvolny circle should be mulched. Layer thickness must be at least 7 cm.

A special case is stanza peach.

In the northern regions, in Siberia and the Far East, it is advisable to form the stanthus forms of peach. In this case, the landing is as follows:

  • Dig a planting hole with a diameter of 120 cm. The depth is small, the thickness of the fertile layer.
  • At the bottom of the pit, earth is piled with mound mixed with humus and superphosphate (250 g). Nitrogen fertilizers do not make.
  • The seedling is placed on a mound so that the top does not touch the ground and is directed to the south.
  • The pit is filled with fertile soil, following the position of the root collar - it should be buried no more than 3-5 cm.
  • A thicker layer of soil is poured over the root system to prevent it from freezing.

After planting, the seedling is well watered and mulched with a layer of organic matter.

    Departure after landing

The main mistake that novice peaches make after planting is to leave a lot of lateral shoots on the seedling. When spring planting - this is a direct path to the death of the seedling: the vegetative ground part will evaporate too much moisture, which will not have time to fill the broken root system.

In the fall, post-plant pruning is not so crucial. You can make it in the spring, according to the results of wintering. In any case, the operation is performed as follows:

  • Choose 3 strong side shoots at a height of about 0.5 m and slightly higher. The center conductor is shortened over the upper branch.
  • Lateral branches are shortened by 2 buds. The upper must look outward in order to form an open crown in the future.
  • All excess side shoots are cut.
  • When planting in autumn it is also necessary to take care of sheltering the peach. To do this, you can build around the tree structure of 3 layers of dense agrospan. Tent coverings of reeds or corn stalks will do well. It is better not to use straw mats - they often get rodents.

If the planting pit is filled with fertilizers, no peach dressing will be needed for two years. But to whiten the stambic is: whitewashing will protect the delicate bark of the plant from frostblast.

You can grow a peach tree not only in the south. If you correctly approach the selection of varieties, to the preparation of the seedling and its planting, even in more northern latitudes, a couple of years later, the peach will delight the owner with delicious fruits. The main thing - the right care and faith in a successful outcome.

How to plant a peach in the fall

In order for your garden to produce a good and large amount of harvest, all fruitful trees in it should be planted at the right and right time. In this article we look at the nuances of peach planting in the fall. This fruit tree is somewhat exotic for our open spaces. But, with the proper selection of varieties and peach planting places, you can get an excellent result.

How to choose a landing site

It is believed that the most suitable time for planting a peach is autumn. The place for its placement should be chosen on the basis of its features.

Peach is considered to be heat and light-loving tree. The most suitable soils for its planting are sandy and loamy nutrient soils. These soils are rich in lime and are characterized by sufficient moisture. Peach is very sensitive to these parameters. But if it is impossible to plant a tree in such a land, you should not be upset. On other soils, this fruit tree can also grow and develop quite normally. Only alkaline soils are absolutely not suitable for it.

Some gardeners argue that this type of tree should not be planted in the place where any other fruit tree has previously been grown. If this is not possible for a number of reasons, it is recommended to sow perennial grasses and cereals near the peach for several fruitful seasons. And also produce fertilizing peach organic fertilizer. Such actions will help to neutralize toxic residues of waste products that remained after the uprooted tree. It will also contribute to the adaptation of the seedling and help to increase the overall yield.

Plant a peach better away from all the old trees, otherwise they will oppress it, and the seedling can just dry out.

Typically, planting is carried out in the southern regions, since in these areas there are no severe winters and the root system of the tree can easily adapt throughout the winter.

In this regard, planting a peach in the fall is the best option, and its location should be sunny and perfectly protected from the influence of cold northern winds. Experts recommend immediately plant peach in a permanent place. Considering the increased requirements of this tree to the external climatic conditions, it is not advisable to plant it in the place where cold air stagnates. The place should be as lit during the day. If there is a large amount of light, the tree will bear fruit with larger and more juicy fruits.

Seedlings must be planted on the south-west and south sides of their summer cottage. The distance between the peach and other trees should be no less than three meters.

A good way is to place a sapling near the fence, the wall of a house or shed, as well as any other fence. In this case, the tree should be placed on the south side. Planting a seedling near fences or walls makes it possible to protect it from the negative effects of cold winds, it will also contribute to better lighting, and the tree itself will be better heated (from the warm wall). In this situation, the seedling is planted with an inclination of 15 or 25 cm. This method of planting is suitable for the future formation of the fan crown. On the wall, for the formation of such a crown, you can fill at a distance of 15 or 20 cm from each other wire brackets. In the future, tree branches will be attached to these brackets.

Do not forget that this tree loves moisture, so in the place of its planting groundwater should lie as close as possible to the ground. The depth of groundwater should be no more than 1-1.5 meters. If the water comes too close to the surface (less than 1 meter), the peach is planted on the bulk mound. The height of this mound can be from 0.5 to 2.5 meters in diameter. If on your part of the water lie very deeply, then the seedling should be watered periodically and under it should be pristvolny julch circle.

The distance between the planted seedlings is not less than 2.5 meters, and between the rows - not less than 3 meters. Some gardeners argue that the step between the trees should be the sum of the heights of adult plants.

With the right place, you can grow a strong and healthy peach tree, which will be high, and please you with tasty and juicy fruits.

    Landing technology

Planting peach begins with the timing and location of growth. The principle of choosing a place, we voiced in the previous chapter. It is possible to plant seedlings in the spring, but the autumn planting is considered more efficient and correct.

Since the peach is not characteristic of our breadth of the tree, there is a certain technology of its planting. The technology of planting peach seedlings consists of several stages.

The second stage of planting - planting seedlings

    Peach Seedlings Planting Technology:

  • seedling roots gently straighten or, as they say among gardeners - “combed”,
  • the peach should be placed in the pit in such a way that the root neck is several centimeters above the ground level,
  • then sprinkle the tree with soil
  • After that, the plant is tied to a peg, which was prepared at the stage of the planting pit.

Upon completion of the process of planting the tree must be poured abundantly (4-5 buckets of water). Sometimes it is recommended to soil the soil using rotted humus (you can also use peat, leaves or sawdust). At the same time you should not use straw, as mice can live in it. Then they form a circle around the seedling so that the moisture in the soil lingers on the bole for a long time.

    Peach planting pattern

This method of planting peach suitable for absolutely any varieties.

    Peach Features

The peach root system is close to the surface of the plot at a depth of 0.2–0.5 meters. Such plants have an average height of 4 meters, while the diameter of their crowns can be 6 meters. Lanceolate leaf plates have a fine toothed edge. Almost sessile flowers have a red or pink color. Their disclosure is observed in the second half of April before the appearance of foliage. In connection with this, a peach tree covered with flowers was published very similar to sakura. As a rule, the fruit is velvety, its shape can be rounded, flat or elongate-elliptical, with a groove on one side. The striated, wrinkled bone has a pointed tip.

After the tree is planted, in 2–4 years it will begin to bear fruit. Продолжительность периода плодоношения составляет от 10 до 15 лет. Персик наряду с апельсином и манго входит в число наиболее вкусных плодов, он обладает освежающим вкусом и очень тонким запахом.Relatives of the peach are the following fruit trees: almonds (differing only in fruits), apricot, shadberry, quince, chokeberry, plum, mountain ash, hawthorn, dogrose, cotoneaster, apple, pear and loquat.

In order to get juicy, sweet and very healthy peaches on your plot, you need to take care and create a seedling favorable conditions for growth and fruiting. In this case, it is imperative to:

    1. Choose the optimal landing site.
    2. Prepare a balanced soil mix.
    3. Purchase a seedling with specific varietal characteristics adapted to our climate.
    4. Provide the tree with essential nutrients and mineral elements.
    5. Take care of this southern "guest" and love him.

Having received care and attention from you, the peach will surely give out bulk and fragrant fruits.

    Choosing a place to land

Proper peach planting involves choosing a spacious, well-lit place, as this culture is growing rapidly. It is better for peach plantations to take the southern or south-western side of the site or, in extreme cases, the west. It is important that this place is not blown cold winds, it was calm with a constant air mode. Such conditions are provided by a fence, fence, wall of a building or even a shield specially made and installed for this purpose. Thanks to this protection, the southern tender tree will be protected from the northern winds and will fully receive the warm air masses heated by the sun.

Bearing in mind the southern origin of the peach, its shading is completely unacceptable. Therefore, choosing a landing site, pay attention to the surrounding plants and buildings. Perhaps in the afternoon, the shadow falling from the house will block the light of a young seedling or a tree growing in the distance after some time will oppress the peach, shielding it from the sun. In this case, there is a risk to destroy the seedling, because not receiving enough sunlight, the tree cannot acquire a full-fledged bark, which means it will not be ready for the winter period. The quality of flowering depends directly on the amount of light, so do not expect a generous harvest from a tree growing in the shade.

Peach loves fertile, well-drained soil, so for its planting, avoid low-lying and wet places with close groundwater storage. If the land is clay and viscous, then it must first be prepared and, perhaps, the seedling will have to be placed on a specially laid hill.

    Preparing the soil

As before any plantings, the peach area must first be dug up, removing weeds and saturating the soil with oxygen. Next, we find out the composition, type and degree of soil moisture: ideally, it should be a medium loamy soil with free circulation of air and moisture. The fertile, humus-rich black earth with an on-site drainage layer made of small stones, gravel or even broken brick meets the required characteristics. If the soil is too depleted, then before planting a peach, it is better to prepare the soil for a year or even in autumn.

A small secret of the location of the peach garden: if the topography of the soil is flat, the rows are planned from north to south, and if the landing is on a slope, then the direction is chosen across the slope.

For poor soils, the soil mixture is prepared from a removed fertile layer with the addition of 2 buckets of humus, compost or rotted manure, about 0.4 kg of nitroammophos (or 0.2 kg of superphosphate and 0.1 kg of potash and nitrogen mineral fertilizers) and half a bucket of wood ash. All components of the soil mix are well mixed and used to fill the planting pit. A similar complex of organic-mineral fertilizers is recommended to be applied annually in the spring to the peach soil of the growing peach.

    We get a sapling

Peach is a plant that requires generous, warm, long sunny summer. But only the southern regions of our country can boast of such a climate. Therefore, earlier it was practically impossible to meet a successfully fruiting peach somewhere in the Moscow region or, say, near Kursk. Now, thanks to the successful work of breeders, it was possible to bring the varieties quite safely enduring the frosty winters and succeeding in the allotted summer months to bestow on us a harvest of southern fruits. It is necessary to choose varieties of early ripening periods, so that the summer fruits have enough summer heat for full ripening.

    Early ripening peaches:

    • Kiev early - winter-hardy enough variety, tested in the temperate continental climate of the middle belt. Fruits are small, light yellow color with a striped blush. The height of trees is average, fruiting, as a rule, comes already from the 3rd year after planting.
    • May Flower - variety of American selection. Fruits are of a greenish shade with a red blush, the flesh is white, the bone is poorly separated. The taste is refreshing, pleasant. Fruiting begins with the third year of vegetation.
    • Juicy - high frost resistance, but does not tolerate a long period of drought. Trees of medium height, the fruits are rounded with a burgundy blush, the stone is difficult to separate.
    • Medium ripening:
    • Slavutych - high-yielding variety of Ukrainian breeding, tolerates frosts and is resistant to powdery mildew. The fruits are round, dark cream color with a rich burgundy blush. The flesh is juicy, fragrant, tasty, the bone is well separated. Fruiting occurs in August for 3-4 years after planting.
    • August resistant - Perhaps one of the most winter-hardy varieties. The yield is average, often depends on weather conditions in the current year, the fruits are small, up to 50 g, with a noticeable acidity.

When choosing a tree in the nursery or the places of their implementation, carefully examine its root, shtamb and crown, ask where the seedling is brought from, whether it is adapted to the conditions of your area and how to plant the peach in the spring. The root system should be well developed with fibrous roots, thanks to which the plant will receive basic nutrition and moisture. The junction of the stock and the scion should be free from damage and sagging. When transporting, be sure to wrap the roots with a damp cloth and place it in a plastic bag to keep it moist.

How to plant a peach in spring

Peach fruits have a very pleasant taste. For them, gardeners are willing to endure all his whims. Peach fruits can be eaten, barely plucked from the branch, make jam, compotes, juices, syrups and even dried. Peaches contain many vitamins and microelements. First of all, it is potassium and calcium (K, Ca), which help with cardiovascular diseases, vitamins: A, C, B - to enhance immunity, treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, iron and copper (Fe, Cu) - to increase hemoglobin. The fruits of this southern tree are an excellent source of energy. Many consider peach a southern culture and are afraid to plant them on their land. And completely in vain! Fragrant fruit grown on its own plot, what could be tastier and more beneficial? Moreover, the breeders bred a lot of varieties of this southern fruit quite comfortable in our climate. The main thing is to choose a suitable variety and plant it correctly.

    Where to buy peach seedlings

It is desirable to purchase seedlings in specialized nurseries, as close as possible to your future garden. Even varieties with low frost resistance, grown in the nursery of your area, should calmly transfer the winter on your site. Particular attention should be paid to seedlings sellers. Do not buy seedlings with hands from private sellers. Contact for seedlings need in specialized centers, where there is a certificate and all relevant documents. The younger the seedling, the easier it takes root. For example, a one-year runaway will take root much better than a two-year one. During transportation, the roots of seedlings must be wrapped in a damp cloth, then immersed in a plastic bag. Roots during the move should not dry out or be subject to rapid temperature changes.

The season of planting a peach tree is selected in accordance with the climatic zone. The closer your site is to the south, the better is the autumn planting of a peach. The young seedling will have time to settle down in a new place before the onset of frost. With the onset of warm days, awakened plants are taken to grow actively. With proper care, after a couple of years, the first fruits appear.

Planting a peach in the spring is the best option for the northern zones. If in a harsh climate to plant peach seedlings in the fall, the chances of survival significantly fall. For such a short period (only 1-1.5 months) before the frost, the tree does not have time to “take” well and is not able to survive the low winter temperatures. In our conditions, a peach is planted in the fall and in the spring - there is practically no difference. It all depends on local weather conditions and the desire of the owner.

    Landing place

When choosing a site for planting a peach, it must be remembered that the peach is a heat-loving and light-loving culture. Peach trees grow quickly and begin to bear fruit annually in the 3rd year after planting.
In winter, peach plantations can withstand temperatures down to -25 ° C. Leaf and flower buds and the root system are most susceptible to frost in a peach. Therefore, you need to choose a place that is well lit by the sun and protected from the wind. It is desirable from the south side of the site, if possible under the wall, which will protect the seedling from the cold northerly and east winds, in addition, it will receive additional heat from the heated wall. Care must be taken that tall trees do not shade a peach. Saplings are planted at a distance of at least 3 m from other trees. When growing peach in shady places in young shoots, it does not have time to ripen wood until autumn, flower buds are poorly laid on the tree, which leads to a decrease in yield and fruit quality or the death of the tree.
The areas located in the lowlands where cold air can stagnate, as well as wetlands with overmoistened soil, are not suitable for planting peach. At the site intended for peach planting, for 3-4 years before, it is impossible to grow solanaceous and melon crops, strawberries because of their general susceptibility to the disease - verticellosis, as well as clover, alfalfa, which inhibit the growth of young peach seedlings. All types of soil are suitable for peach trees, provided good drainage is created. For this, the bottom of the landing pit must be filled with stones, gravel, brick chips, etc. The soil for planting peach must be dug well, freeing from weeds. If the soil is poor, then the preparation should be carried out a year before planting, making organic and mineral fertilizers. The rates of fertilizer in the planting pit: organic (humus, compost) - 6-8 kg, ash - 200-300 g, mineral - 200 g of superphosphate, 100 g of potash and nitrogen. In a good soil is enough to make a complex mineral fertilizer and ash.

    Preparing for landing

Laying a peach orchard is necessary to know a few important rules for its planting. These secrets will subsequently influence the development and growth of the plant:

first, when acquiring a tree, one should definitely pay attention to its root and skeletal branches. Preparing a seedling for transportation, the rhizome of the plant is wrapped in a damp cloth, and the culture itself is placed in a bag, it can be polyethylene. It is very important that when transporting a sapling there are no sudden changes in temperature, and its root does not overheat and does not dry. It is worth noting that the young annual plant takes root in the best way.

secondly, an important factor is the place where the peach will live. It is necessary to take into account that this is a light-loving culture, which is very fast in growth and fruiting - the harvest of tasty fruits can already be harvested by the 3rd year after planting.

thirdly, the peach likes sunny, bright places, in which there is no access to gusts of wind. The southern, south-western and western side of the site, where there is an excellent air regime, and especially if it is a slope, is perfect. If there is any fence or wall in the garden plot, placing a delicate peach tree under it would be an ideal option. The existing structure will become in the future an excellent barrier to the north and east cold winds, and the tree will also receive additional heat from its heated surface.

Fourthly, the peach absolutely does not tolerate shade, so it is usually planted far from old trees. In a shaded place, young shoots of plants do not have time to acquire bark by autumn, and flower shoots are not laid on it. This lowers the yield and badly affects the quality of the fruit. And everything in the complex can even destroy the tree.

Fifth, when planting a peach, it is also worth avoiding low-lying, damp and wetlands. And those areas where the air can not warm up for a long time.

What are the requirements for soil

Be sure, before planting a peach, you must find out the composition of the land on the plotwhere it will grow, it depends on how the young tree will take root in a new place and whether it will live there.

  • The peach tree is not suitable sandy light land with a large groundwater
  • it will not grow in waterlogged and heavy loamy soil,
  • if we take, in general, the peculiarities and preferences of the peach, then it should be noted that well-drained fertile soil is suitable for it. Any type of land can make it, if you create good drainage in the ground, for this, stones, gravel, brick chips and other suitable material are poured out at the bottom of the pit for planting.
  • choosing a site for peach, it should be remembered that this is a southern plant that grows best on medium loamy soil with excellent moisture and air exchange,
  • another plant loves black soil, which is rich in humus.

If during the inspection of the land it was determined that the soil is poor in trace elements, the place for the tree should be prepared a year before the planned landing.

Therefore, in the fall in the pit for planting:

  • organic and mineral fertilizers are applied,
  • manure, superphosphate, potassium chloride and wood ash are added to the ground for digging,
  • all fertilizers are thoroughly mixed with the earth, then trees are fed with this mixture.

This useful "porridge" is brought into the stalk of the soil regularly in the spring. If the garden soil is good enough, to prepare the land for planting it will be enough to add ash and mineral fertilizers to it.

    Are fertilizers needed?

The composition of the soil also affects the amount of micronutrients necessary for growth and the normal development of the tree, which are introduced during planting and then constantly added in the process of caring for the tree. For example, sod-podzolic light soil with a low content of organic elements, for normal fruiting and growth of garden crops, requires annual mineral and organic nutrition.

Podzolized soils are fed with nitrogen, potash, phosphorus, and sometimes organic fertilizers. During fertilizer, it is still worth considering the frequency of watering the garden. Frequent watering contributes to leaching a substantial portion of the fertilizer. Thus, a regularly watered garden should be fed with a large amount of fertilizer.

During the spring digging, in the first years of the life of a young tree - this is 2-3 years after planting, nitrogen fertilizers are poured into the near-stem zone. This ammonium nitrate, and urea. And also, with the same periodical, make organic fertilizers. In the process of growing a tree, the rate of fertilizer is progressively increased by 15-20 g every 2-3 years.

Still, any orchard is fertilized with so-called green saltpeter. To do this in the aisle peach tree crops such as oilseed radish, colza, lupine and canola are sown. These plants act as a siderat and can replace humus.

    Something about landing pit

Early in the spring most trees are planted. Try to do this before bud break. Peach tree, many gardeners also recommend to plant in this period. For disembarking prepare special pits. Desirable dig holes according to a previously prepared plan, since autumn, before the onset of the first cold weather. In this case, the rows should be located on a flat segment in the direction from south to north.

And if the landing plan on the slope, then rows are placed across the slope. The size of the landing pit should correspond to the average size. But, it is necessary to dig it up so that the whole root of the young tree is conveniently located in the pit. A standard pit for peach is considered to be a pit of size, where the depth is 50-60 cm, and the diameter is 40-50 cm.

    How to choose a sapling

When buying seedlings of any plant, it is worthwhile to regularly use the most important rule - to buy garden crops, and any other crops, it is necessary only in special stores or at specialized points.

To begin with, determine the type of peach, which will best suit the climatic conditions of the site of the planned landing. In addition, when buying a plant, be sure to check with the seller where the sapling is brought from and whether it can adapt to your area.

During the spring planting of a peach tree, you need to be quite careful and attentive. Often, young trees are purchased in advance in the fall, and they are added in them for further transplantation until spring.

As a rule, moisture and heat act on a prikopanny sapling, it contributes to the swelling of the buds on the branches and trunk. Such buds are very delicate and rather easily damaged, which is very harmful for the young tree. With an inaccurate transplant, there are many breakages of just such young buds that, subsequently, can affect the proper growth of the young peach.

Preparing a seedling for planting, they cut all the dry parts of the root on it. And if the root is dried up, it is additionally placed in water for 24 hours. Then the tree is planted in a prepared pit at the bottom of which a mound is poured from a layer of soil mixed with fertilizers. A tree is planted on this hillock, its roots are laid out and evenly covered with earth.

At the same time, the vaccinated place is left 4-5 cm above the ground, and the seedling's tummy is turned to the north. After that, the soil is trampled down (to do this correctly in the direction of the tree trunk), and the tree itself is watered well with 2-3 buckets of water. A layer of earth on top of mulch 8-10 cm of manure.

Planted best yearling seedlings. At the same time, 3-4 strong branches are left on the plant from the bottom, which are pruned, leaving only 3-4 buds. The top branch, which is the trunk, is also shortened.

We proceed to planting a sapling.

Peach Tree Planting recommended to produce in a state of his peace. This period is in the spring.

Of course, this crop can be planted in the fall, especially if it concerns southern areas with milder climatic conditions, but such planting leaves the risk that this heat-loving tree will not tolerate low temperatures and still die in the winter, which we would not like.

    When can I plant?

Peach fruit tree in the best way survives after spring planting. The reason for this is the southern origin of this culture. Planting such trees in the fall, we practically do not give them the opportunity to prepare for lower temperatures. And an unprepared tree is most likely to freeze when severe frosts occur.

Thus, the peach seedlings are planted in the spring before the first buds bloom, somewhere in early March. This period is considered favorable also because there is a sufficient amount of moisture in the ground necessary for the growth of a young tree.

    About the depth of landing

Planting any tree should take into account the depth of planting the seedling. For peach hole dug about 40-50 cm deep. At the same time, the place where the tree was grafted should go 5-10 cm deep into the ground.

If the tree is deeply deepened into the soil, it will contribute to the necrosis of the lower part of the bark of the trunk, which negatively affects the tree itself and its proper development. In case of insufficient planting depth, the root of the tree will be subject to weathering, which will also adversely affect its growth. Therefore, this depth is the best option for planting.

Spring feeding for garden plants, including peach, is a very important element of care, since it is during this period that the tree begins to grow and gain strength for flowering and subsequently bear fruit.

Peach enough unpretentious in feeding, but still some fertilizer rules for this plant exist. This is especially true of his landing.

Directly do not recommend feeding the soil during planting. It can burn the young roots of a young tree. All fertilizers, both mineral and organic, are added to the planting pit since autumn.

    Why does the peach die?

The main reason for the death of peach trees in the year of planting is overdrying of the root system. Therefore, especially carefully should inspect it. Roots must be alive, healthy, undated. To verify this, you need to update the slices on the roots.

When transporting seedlings from the nursery, you should wrap the roots with a damp rag or paper, and on top with a film. Once a dried root system is no longer restored. When planting single trees, it is necessary to pay attention so that the peach plant is not oppressed and not obscured by trees and buildings growing close to it. If you plant several peach trees, they are placed in groups to facilitate their care.

When is it best to plant a peach?

The best time for planting a peach is spring, the second or third decade of April. Calendar is here. Saplings before planting are stored in a place well protected from frost. The best seedlings take root in the spring.

Autumn planting is also possible, as a rule, from the third decade of September. After the autumn planting, the hilling of the trunk is carried out with a mound of earth of 20–30 cm. It is covered with white covering material with a density of 50–60 units.

How to plant a peach sapling?

After determining the footprints in your area, it is necessary to dig up the landing holes. The diameter of the pits is 0.6–1.0 meters, the depth is 0.6–0.7 meters. The more fertile the soil, the smaller the diameter of the planting pit. If on a stretch of soil is heavy, with close bedding of clay, the pits dig deep, and gravel, brick fights, river sand with shells, humus, etc. fall asleep to the bottom for drainage. How to plant a peach seedling

A soil mix is being prepared to fill the planting pit when planting a peach seedling. When digging a hole, the top fertile soil layer is folded separately. 1–2 buckets of humus or compost are added to it, simple superphosphate — 300 g, potassium sulfate — 100–150 g or ash — 200–300 g.

Peach seedlings before planting should be soaked in water for 2-3 days, immersing them to 1/3 of the height.

Planting seedlings is best done together. Planting mixture is poured into the pit, then one puts a seedling into the pit on the soil mound, evenly placing the roots on the mound. The seedling should be kept so that the root neck is 3-5 cm above the edges of the pit. The other falls asleep with the soil mixture and tramples it, starting at the edges of the pit. The soil should be compacted, putting the heel against the wall of the pit, and the toe towards the seedling.

So that there are no voids between the roots, the seedling is periodically pushed and shaken. When the planting pit is filled with soil mixture and planting is carried out at the level of the root collar (this is where the root passes into the trunk with brown bark), an earthen roller with a width and height of 12-15 cm is formed at its edges for irrigation

Regardless of soil moisture and weather conditions, a plant is immediately watered with 2-3 buckets of water. After watering the soil settles. The root neck should be at ground level. If it is deeper, the plant is gently tightened, holding the base of the stem.

After the water is absorbed, the well is mulched with rotted manure, needles or compost, buckwheat husk, agrofilm (100 × 100 cm) with a density of 50–60 units.

During the summer, the plant is watered 3-4 times, each time spending 3-4 buckets of water under one tree. In dry weather, the peach plant is watered after 7–10 days.

    Proper tree care

Having planted a peach tree, while adhering to all the listed rules, it is also important not to forget that now the plant requires constant attention, care and care. And its correct growth, development and regularity of fruiting will be influenced by how it is watered, protected and fed.

    First about watering

Regardless of the planting time, mulching and watering play an important role in the survival of young peach trees and their further development. Mulch prevents the appearance of a crust and cracks in the ground near the tree, and also affects the reproduction of worms, which contribute to the aeration of the soil in the stalk zone of the plant.

Peach tree resistant to dry weather, but still the lack of a sufficient amount of moisture affects the development of the plant, its yield, and the quality of the fruit. In dry weather, the tree is watered starting in June and ending in August once every two to three weeks. During irrigation, 1-2 buckets of water are poured into the stalk zone.

    Further on top dressing

After planting a peach, the soil near his circle is mulched all the time. This prevents drying and cracking of the ground, which adversely affects the root of the tree, and can affect its growth and development. With the same purpose, after planting, around the trunk, you can make a small slide out of the ground about 30 cm high. This will also help retain moisture and prevent the winding of the ground and the root system of the tree.

Every year minerals are added to the tree trunk zone.

In the spring, these are nitrogenous fertilizers (ammonium nitrate) or urea.

In the fall - phosphate and potash fertilizers.

Quite often, experienced gardeners use the so-called "green" dressing. For this garden aisle sow different special cropsfrom which, subsequently, green fertilizers are obtained.

Go to the protection of the tree

Peach is a very tender plant, which is prone to many specific diseases, and which pests are very fond of. The main enemies of the peach tree are monilioz (fruit gray rot), powdery mildew, and deciduous curl. All three diseases are fungal, which can be prevented, and do not let the tree get sick.

Moniliosis fungus winters in affected branches and dry fruits. Therefore, an effective method of combating this disease is three pruning plants. The same method is used when dealing with powdery mildew.

First pruning done early in springThe second - a week after flowering, and the last - in the fall. Cut branches, collected rotten fruit and dry leaves, infected with a sore, necessarily burn.

Foliar curvature is also a fungal disease, the main method of which is controlled by spraying the tree with a Bordeaux mixture or Horus. This procedure is carried out three times a year: before the first leaves appear, in the fall and after the foliage falls.

Peach requires protection and in winter. To do this, the tree is covered with burlap or other material at hand. There is a very affordable way to protect against frost - it is a mound 50-60 cm high, which is constructed in the fall from the ground around the tree trunk, and it is disassembled in the spring.

Thus, knowing all the features and secrets of planting a peach, planting this useful tree and caring for it is not difficult. At the same time, a beautiful, well-groomed tree will grow in the garden, and on the table there will always be juicy, sweet peach fruit.
