General information

Makhitos - the newest high-yielding variety of tomato

Makhitos tomato variety is a hybrid, bred by the Dutch holding RIJK ZWAAN - one of the leading breeders of vegetable crops in the world. In the domestic market, the products of this holding have been represented since 1995.

Mashitos f1 tomato testing trials took place in 2011, and since 2012 it has been registered in the State Register of Plants.

Tomato mahitos f1 is one of the indeterminate species, and, therefore, capable of unlimited growth. Shrubs of this species can easily reach 190-220 cm in height. In the southern regions of the country there is a practice to throw stalks that have reached the top of the greenhouse, through the crossbars, so that they continue to grow and bear fruit, hanging down.

The plant has a powerful stem, a highly developed root system and medium-sized internodes. Due to its strong base, Makhitos f1 variety should be tied up only at an early stage of growth.

Tomato has a dense foliage with large dark green leaves. Brushes are formed through 3-5 sheets, each can be tied up to 6-7 fruits.

Also to the description of the tomato Makhitos f1 should be added that it is an early ripe variety, but not the earliest. The first harvest can be observed as early as 100 days after planting the seeds. At the same time, the ovary of tomatoes occurs under adverse climatic conditions and even in a situation of lack of moisture or, on the contrary, an overabundance.

But it should still be borne in mind that for the optimal growth and development of any culture takes time. Therefore, it is often practiced the second turn of the hybrid, the terms of which fall in August-September. It is this technology that makes it possible to obtain a large crop of large and tasty Makhitos f1 tomatoes.

Fruit Description

Tomato varieties have a smooth spherical shape with a slight flattening on the side of the stem. When Makhitos tomatoes reach full maturity, their shell and flesh are stained in a rich bright red color.

Another important feature of the vegetable culture of this variety is the large size of the fruit. Their weight at the first stage of ripening ranges from 150 to 250 g, but later fruits can reach 500 g.

An important advantage is a dense shell. Thanks to her, vegetables do not burst during ripening, withstand transportation and long-term storage, as well as heat treatment.

Makhitos Tomato Characteristics

In the description of the Makhitos tomato variety, the following characteristics can be distinguished:

  • the plant has a tall, well-developed stem,
  • after planting, the plant quickly forms a branched root system and dense foliage,
  • the hybrid is highly resistant to the most common diseases of tomatoes and some parasites,
  • the ovary is practically not affected by adverse external conditions,
  • Makhitos f1 tomatoes are evenly shaped and have a strong shell and pulp, which makes it possible to transport the crop over long distances and long-term storage,
  • Tomatoes have a rich aroma and a pleasantly expressive taste.
  • Makhitos f1 grade tolerates high temperature and excessive or, on the contrary, insufficient humidity,
  • tomato ripening occurs simultaneously, which facilitates the process of harvesting.

Productivity of tomato Makhitos

Tomatoes Makhitos F1 have high fruitfulness. The official website of the originator contains data on the average weight of the fetus - 210-260 g. Many farmers note that individual fruits can reach a weight of 0.5-0.7 kg. Practice shows that 25-30 tomatoes ripen on one bush, which means that the yield of one seedling can reach 5-10 kg.

There are several secrets to maximize the fertility of Makhitos f1:

  • use for planting the soil where cabbage, onions or legumes were grown before,
  • for optimum growth requires high humidity in combination with dry ground,
  • the use of fertilizers in the period when there is an ovary, will provide a uniform color of the skin and rapid maturation.

Scope of fruit

The large size and early terms of ripening of the crop predetermined the use of the tomato Machito f1 for fresh consumption. The fruits are well suited for slicing, cooking salads and a variety of snacks. It is also convenient to add stuffing in them and bake in this form in the oven.

As for preparations for the winter, Makhitos f1 tomatoes can serve as the basis for canned salads, soup dressings and various sauces. In addition, fruits with red flesh are a traditional raw material for making juice.

History of Makhitos Tomatoes

The RIJK ZWAAN brand is represented in 30 countries, and its history in the Russian Federation has been going on for more than 20 years, since 1995. The best varieties and hybrids are delivered for Russian vegetable growers. All of them were tested in our conditions and entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements.

This brand sells original Makhitos seeds in Russia.

The application for the varietal testing of tomato Makhitos was received in August 2011. The year of inclusion in the register of plants is 2012. The hybrid is allowed to be grown in all regions of the Russian Federation under film covers. And although this hybrid is recommended for personal subsidiary farms, it is cultivated on an industrial scale, grown in farm greenhouses and harvested, much higher than those stated in the State Register.

Hybrid description

Makhitos is a powerful indeterminant tomato with a strong stem, short internodes and a well-developed root system. Brushes are formed every 2-3 leaves. The tangible advantage of Makhitos is the ability to tie fruit in conditions of coolness and temperature drops.

Makhitos bushes are strong, with short internodes

The shrub grows to 180–250 cm. It takes 90–100 days from germination to harvesting first fruits. In total for a growing season in a greenhouse, 6–8 brushes are laid on a single plant, each containing 5–6 fruits. But these are average indicators. In the south, the Makhitos stalk, which has grown to the greenhouse ceiling, is thrown over the upper crossbar so that it continues to grow and bear fruit, hanging down like a liana. The main thing is that before the onset of cold weather tomatoes have had enough.

Fruits are all leveled, smooth, dense, on immature there is no dark spot on the stem. Makhitos tomatoes do not crack, have excellent taste and presentation, tolerate transportation, and are stored for a long time.

There are significant differences regarding the weight of the fruit, and hence the yield of the hybrid. Thus, in the State Register the weight of the fruit is indicated - 72 g, yield - 3.4 kg / m². On the website of Rajk Zwaan Rus, the weight is 220–260 g. The indicators from the manufacturer are confirmed by amateurs and farmers: the characteristic weight of a single tomato for Makhitos is 200–250, individual copies up to 500 and even 700 g In fact, the yield of one bush is from 20-30 fruits, which is at least 4-6 kg, on average - 10 kg per plant. Planting density - 4–5 bushes per 1 m².

Features of growing

In summer greenhouses in most parts of our country, tomatoes can be planted in early to mid-May, in the south - earlier, in the north - later. By the time of planting, the seedlings of the mid-season hybrid should be 60–65 days. This means that the seeds need to be sown from the beginning to the middle of March. Makhitos is subject to a fitoftoroz. From the first days of cultivation, pay attention to the prevention of this disease:

  • disinfect the land for seedlings, warm it to 100 ° C,
  • pickle the seeds in the purple solution of potassium permanganate, and if they are in the glaze, sow without processing,
  • in the fall or spring of the earth, treat all the inner surfaces of the greenhouse, pegs, garters, tapestries, racks with a solution of a fungicide,
  • pick off the lower leaves in contact with the ground, as well as all with signs of disease.

Makhitos shows its strength already in the seedling period, and strong plants need good nutrition. Before planting in the greenhouse, feed the plants every 10–14 days with a complex mixture for seedlings. Proved well: Fertika, Agricola, BioMaster, Clean Sheet. Give the first top dressing a week after picking on individual cups, the last one a week before disembarking to a permanent place.

Prepare the beds in advance: dig a bucket of humus and 1–2 cups of wood ash for every square meter. Makhitos landing scheme - 40x70 cm. Like other indeterminate tomatoes, this hybrid is very simple in forming a shrub. Remove all stepchildren, grow in one stem with the obligatory garter to the trellis.

The rest of the care is:

  • Watering once a week - 3–7 liters per plant. The rate of water depends on the size of the bush, the number of fruits on it and the phase of development. So, from the landing up to the beginning of fruiting, the need for moisture increases, and during the period of mass ripening it decreases.
  • Feeding, as in the seedling period, is needed every 2 weeks. Fertilizers must be complex, that is, contain nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements. No need to feed infusion of nettle, mullein, litter. They are dominated by nitrogen, stimulating the growth of tops to the detriment of fruiting. It is easier to buy ready-made mixes created specifically for tomatoes under the brands: Red Giant, BioGumus, BioMaster, Agricola.
  • Loosening the soil after each watering. To rid yourself of this job, protect the earth from crust formation with plant mulch or black film.

It is not necessary to plant tomatoes in the slotted black film, you can lay it in between the rows after planting

Harvest and Destination

In order to increase the yield, especially in the northern regions, the fruits are harvested in dairy or blanche ripeness. Plus, the early collection is also in the fact that the unripe fruits are stored for a long time (2 months) and are well tolerated for long-distance transportation. Fully ripened Makhitos tomatoes do not lose their presentation and good taste for two weeks.

Dispense tomatoes in the light at room temperature, and if you do not have time to eat and process so many tomatoes, then keep them in the dark and cool - + 10 ... +15 ° C. In the southern regions, Makhitos fruits ripen directly on the bushes, for the market they are often cut with whole brushes. Each weighs an average of 1 kg and looks amazing.

Fully matured brush Makhitos looks spectacular and appetizing.

What could be the purpose of large, beautiful and very tasty tomatoes? Of course - the salad. They are eaten fresh, preparing salads. Surpluses freeze, process into paste and juice, make winter preparations, in which it is necessary to add tomatoes with slices. If medium-sized Makhitos were born at you, then, thanks to the dense skin, they are perfect for whole-canning.

Vegetable growers reviews about Makhitos tomatoes

I Makhitos in the garden without a canopy vymahal under two meters. Four brushes tied. The first brush managed to take off in milky ripeness. On the very first hot day they began to turn black. And from the top leaves. A few pieces ripped from the root and in the trash. For others, I ampute each day leaves, soon some stems will remain with mokushkoy. On one, for the sake of the experiment, the phytophthora spot on the stem was scraped with a knife into healthy tissue and smeared with Maxim. For three days already the stain does not grow. There is no hope for street tomatoes, soon everyone will be bent. In the greenhouse planted Esmira with Makhitos and one bush Tolstoy. The first is still holding, and the last is already depalted and left for aging.

Guys, plant Makhitos. Red tall tomato hybrid. At the moment, all the buyers in the south are obsessed with our Mahitos, no one takes rosy ones, because Machitos won a niche for himself))) I have an agronomist planting it, so he had wooden greenhouses, he pumped them so that he had 1 greenhouse collapsed from the weight. the fruit reached 700 grams)) but the most important thing is that it is tasty

This year I was delighted with Makhitos, very tasty! Recommend.

Makhitos is a tomato that farmers praise, perhaps, more than producers and sellers of seeds. In practice, the outstanding yields of this hybrid and high consumer properties of its fruits have been verified. With all the benefits of care remains standard, as for any other greenhouse varieties.

Tomato Makhitos F1

Tomat Makhitos is a novelty of the Rijk Zwaan company, it has been on the market since 2013 and in such a short period of time has gained phenomenal popularity and wide popularity due to an amazing combination of advantages.
Makhitos F1 is a tomato that we highly recommend if you choose early and productive varieties of tomatoes for greenhouses for cultivation, both in the first and second turnovers.

Tomato Mahitos description: This is an early (90-100 days) indeterminantny red large-fruited tomato with a very close ripening of fruits.

The weight of each, as a rule, is 220-260 grams, and the tomato is large on the whole brush, right down to the last tomato. Moreover, on the lower racemes, ripe fruits weigh 300 grams each. Tomatoes are sweet, sugar, very tasty.

Bright red color, without green legs, dense, very marketable and do not crack even in stressful situations. Well transported.

The main sales segment is a fresh market, but due to its high solids content, it is also in demand in processing.

Makhitos F1 is a vegetative type tomato: strong-growing and with a very powerful root system. In greenhouses, its height reaches more than two meters, and, as a rule, is limited to the height of the greenhouse itself.

Accordingly, a tomato is very leafy and a large leaf is another indicator of plant health: many people make a mistake by unnecessarily removing the foliage when growing Makhitos, as a result - the size of the fruit and the overall yield are affected.

Tomato Makhitos f1 requires mandatory pasynkovaniya and powerful garters. The best yield results are achieved when grown in one stem and at intervals of 40-50 cm. With proper farming and plant nutrition, our partner farmers receive a simultaneous ovary of 55-65 fruits on each bush. And the total yield easily reaches 20kg from each bush.

Due to the powerful root system of the tomato, it does not need a lot of water: water moderately, starting to increase it gradually, after at least three brushes have been formed. At this time, we begin to feed the plants with potassium, magnesium and boron.

From inexpensive domestic drugs, we recommend the line Ceovit:

Ovary, Fruiting, Boron.

Also very popular line Valagro:
Master 15 + 5 + 30, Brexil Mg, Benefit stimulator.

Excellent fertilizer application results. Omex:

Sequential-2, Micromax, Bio-20.

Well, fertilizer Atlantic:
Raykat Growth in combination with Aminokat and Kelik K.

Separately, we would like to mention the drug Nutrivant Tomatoes: these water-soluble fertilizers for drip irrigation include NPK and all the trace elements necessary for a tomato.
The practice of using it drop by drop on greenhouse tomatoes shows just phenomenal results - highly recommended!

We want to pay special attention to the Spanish drug. Floron:
This is a powerful stimulator of flowering and, accordingly, the ovary. The use of Floron on greenhouse tomatoes gives a phenomenal result and, in combination with NPK, top dressing will prolong your fruiting phase up to hard frosts in late autumn.

We also note the pleasant fact that Makhitos F1 copes with stress, is suitable for growing in all climatic zones, resistant to the nematode and the classic "tomato" diseases: fusarium, cladosporia, verticillosis. Therefore, its cultivation will be quite trouble-free, and therefore financially beneficial.
